7 months from this side .. On top of the world at Table Mountain

7 months

Between these 2 hikes exactly 7 months - and what feels like a lifetime - has passed.

On 2nd February, i climbed up the iconic African Table Mountain too fast, got scared, slipped and broke my ankle.

I was in the beginning of a new chapter in life, just left my comfortable and secure corporate life after 15 years, moving out of the home and country I lived in for 7 years, full of new ideas and motivation just to find myself crushed and completely incapacitated in a matter of moments.

What followed was 2 surgeries, postponed and cancelled plans, battles with insurances, hospitals and bureaucracy, and fear, sadness and anger so deep i never knew before.

But only in the dark it is that we get to appreciate the light, that we realize we never walk alone in life and it is not what happens to us that hurts or nurtures us but our thoughts about them.

As soon as i switched my

*victim mode* (why is this happening to me right now?!)

to

*agency mode* (how is this experience benefiting me and my environment?),

the dark clouds started to fade and my life filled with gratitude and abundance.

Today, it is my first hike since the accident, so i’d like to share this picture from the top of Csobanc (Balaton Region) Hungary, where I get to appreciate life every day, and all the friends and kind strangers who cross paths with me in this journey.

It doesn’t matter how many times or how badly we fall, it’s about getting back up everytime.
